Description

Linger explores how time moves forward while human emotion remains anchored to specific places and unspoken moments. Designed for Tithi Rohilla’s EICAR Paris graduation film, the story examines how both comforting and uncomfortable touches linger in memory. Custom lettering was chosen as a central storytelling mechanism, allowing the title card to act as a narrative artifact before dialogue even begins. Drawing inspiration from domestic textiles and historical French needlework references, the title uses cross-stitch embroidery as a direct metaphor for memory, a slow, patient craft built thread by thread. Translating fluid Copperplate calligraphy into a rigid pixel grid required careful optical adjustments to balance stroke weights, loop counters, and floral details. Bridging digital grid logic with physical thread, I also learned the craft and hand-embroidered the piece over 30 hours, proving that bespoke, craft-centric typography can give a film an enduring visual identity.
