Godawan 173: Collector’s Edition reimagines whisky bottles as canvases for illustrative storytelling. Its launch marked a historic conservation milestone - Godawan’s population rose from 96 to 173. To save the remaining birds, Rajasthan’s Jaipur Blue Pottery (JBP) art had to thrive again. The connection? Their shared land. As the art lost its patrons, JBP artisans were moving out of Godawan’s habitat and leaving it open for industrialisation. This centuries-old art needed patronage. We revived it on 173 bespoke bottles, each illustrated as a homage to one bird. Each bottle is individually handcrafted, featuring the bird amidst intricate floral and geometric patterns. We used traditional techniques and the signature palette of cobalt blue, turquoise and white to illustrate the fragile quartz-based surface. Mentored by art conservationist Dr. Leela Bordia, local artisans pushed the boundaries of JBP from traditional art to global luxury. The designs are a lifeline to the bird’s ecosystem
