Trial & Error (T&E) is a beer-led IP by Biergarten, Bengaluru. Conceived as an experimental series, it creates space to move beyond conventional frameworks & processes in brewing. Like many of our favourite design projects, the visual language for this beer series began with incidental observation. One evening, we found ourselves staring at beer spillage, thinking - what if our letters are inspired by beer froth? What followed was extensive tinkering with letterforms using varied light, density, and camera settings. As the froth dissolved, the same letterforms revealed unexpected variations. The hardest part was turning these somewhat accidental spills into something that actually reads as an alphabet. Tea spoons, chopsticks & even fingernails were our analogue tools, while Illustrator helped shape every scuff and spill into a unique letterform. We finally landed on a set that carried the sense of experimentation and frothy feeling you get from real beers.
