Description
Our pavilion for ADFF: STIR at Mumbai's NCPA responds to Constructing the Frame: A Frame of Reference, exploring framing in its many forms—how cinema frames reality, architecture shapes experience & space becomes cinematic. At NCPA, a space for performance, Dialogue, our conceptual anchor is transformed into a spatial installation. In cinema, dialogue adds meaning, while subtitles transcend language. Letters are set in Curry, a hybrid typeface blending Uncial & Devanagari, its calligraphic forms translating into 3D, while its hybrid nature echoes a festival fostering exchange across disciplines & geographies. Scattered letters create tension & play, inviting visitors to interact, meander or pause within a participatory stage. Forms & counterforms frame architecture, sky, people & light. Anchored on low-cost sand, it connects to its context near the Arabian Sea. As light shifts, the pavilion becomes an evolving dialogue between typography, architecture & spectator
