Description
Yuzen Matcha turns the Japanese tea ceremony into an illustration-led brand identity. From Camellia sinensis and the tea leaf to the chawan, chasen, chakin, katakuchi and the gesture of whisking, each element of the ritual is translated into a distinct visual asset. The illustrations are built through Tenbyō (点描), a dot-based technique in which thousands of individually placed marks create light, shadow, texture and form. The same stippled language then expands from objects into abstract patterns inspired by matcha fields and the rhythm of ritual, creating a system that moves between depiction and abstraction. Applied across packaging, print and brand communication. The result is an illustration-led identity where the ceremony itself becomes the brand’s visual vocabulary.
