Description
Ranabir didn't shoot Mumbai. He came home to it. Cinematographer Ranabir Das — whose naturalistic visual language shaped the internationally acclaimed "All We Imagine as Light" — brought to this film something beyond craft. He brought history. Having grown up in Kolkata and built his life in Mumbai, the city he was asked to photograph was the same city that had given him his career, his community, and his creative identity. That personal relationship defines the visual approach. Shot entirely on real locations with available light, the cinematography never flatters or idealises — it simply looks, with the clear-eyed affection of someone who knows a place deeply. Director Bikramjit's background as a still photographer further sharpens this sensibility. Each frame is composed with the patience and precision of someone who understands that a single image can carry an entire truth. The result is cinematography that doesn't document Mumbai. It honours something that made you who you are.
