Description
Created for Asian Paints, Sharad Shanman celebrates the spirit of Durga Pujo in the timeless city of Kolkata. At the heart of the film is a handcrafted visual world built frame by frame. Just as pandals are constructed piece by piece and communities come together to create something magical, the film itself was assembled patiently, frame by frame. Life-sized sets, a Kolkata taxi cut and suspended mid-air, lights mounted on cherry pickers, and the ever-mischievous Gattu were carefully staged to recreate the festive atmosphere of the season. The film also pays tribute to the iconic yellow taxis of Hindustan Motors—vehicles that have long been woven into the visual memory of Kolkata. In the film, the taxi becomes the device that carries the audience across the many decades of Sharad Shanman. In the film, Gattu becomes the curious, energetic soul of the journey as he guides viewers through a playful, handcrafted celebration of Pujo while marking 40 years of Asian Paints Sharad Shanman.
