Description
For Titan Eye+’s Ek Tara Project, the creative challenge lay in weaving a score into the earthy, rustic and innocent world of the children of Pahalgam, Kashmir. The music had to be grounded in traditional roots and yet maintain the cinematic essence and minimalism the documentary style filmmaking required. At its heart lies the decision to incorporate local Kashmiri poems and songs, sung by the kids themselves and absorbed into our musical world - a jam of organic instruments like the Rabab, mandolin, dilruba, udu, percussive claps and a nylon string guitar. A modern sine based synth, was added to twinkle with awe and innocence like the titular ‘tara’. The score then culminates in an uptempo celebratory chorus, alive with claps and joyful children’s ‘hey’ shouts. We truly hope that our intention to stay true and honest in our representation of these wonderful children from this beautiful land shines through and conveys their story effectively.
