Description
A simple truth was hiding in plain sight. Words born in the kitchen, “hot”, “spicy”, “sizzling”, had drifted into how women are described. This Women’s Day, India Gate chose to take them back. With #NotYourBiryani, a brand rooted in Indian food and values reclaimed these words where they belong, on the plate, not on women. Voices across genres led the shift. Spoken word artist Nayab Midha reframed admiration with dignity. Actor Ayesha Khan challenged casual objectification. Digital creator Harshita Gupta translated the idea into everyday social content. Built to spread, the idea scaled through hundreds of nano and micro creators and meme culture, making it participative and native to feeds. The campaign crossed 50 million views, but more importantly, sparked over half a million SHARES, turning audiences into advocates. What started as content became conversation. Because culture does not need new words. Just the courage to put the right ones back in their place.
