Sale season in India is pure clutter. Every sale is just called sale, or the even more creative ‘summer sale'. So when Flipkart was announcing their biggest sale of the summer, we had to make sure people noticed. Our client, like any other, asked for a generic catalogue-first film, with the tiny caveat of telling people this was a DOUBLE SALE with 2X the discounts as any other sale. But instead of treating that like a problem, we made this our creative solve. Introducing SASA LELE. Taking inspiration from India’s love for musicals, the film made a musical out of product names. Each lyric was just product names sung like opera, paired with unforgettably bizarre visuals. The products, the hook, the weirdness, everything was doubled. The sound design brought it all together, mixed like an operatic score, yet reading like a brainrot meme. That very dichotomy of weirdness that took itself a bit too seriously gave us a film so delightfully absurd that you had to watch it on repeat.
