Description
1 in 5 Indian school children suffer from blurry vision. Parents believe vision problems only come with age and don’t prioritise regular eye tests. So for Children's Day 2025, we designed the Ek Tara Test. Inspired by an ancient method used to test hunters’ eyesight using the stars, our glow-in-the-dark star spotting aid turned the simple act of stargazing into vision screening. Through an omnichannel media strategy, we distributed free test cards across 140+ schools and partnered with Tinkle - India’s leading comic publication, to reach 1.2M+ children, making the Ek Tara Test available online, reaching Indian homes directly at a negligible cost of Re. 1. (approx.1 cent) 100,000 children were tested. A key benchmark for early intervention was identifying Pre-Myopic children, we found 45% of children fell into this category and 47% of students were found with "Non-Normal" vision, indicating their current prescriptions were likely incorrect.
