Description
1 in 5 Indian school children suffer from blurry vision. They go on with life thinking their poor vision is normal. As a result, these issues remain undetected and is felt most in non-urban regions of India. We created the Ek Tara Test and demonstrated its use by documenting real children in real schools across the country. Shot in actual classrooms and playgrounds, it blends observational storytelling with quiet, intimate moments. The narrative shows how our test, inspired by an ancient method of testing hunters’ eyesight using stars, enables children to check their own vision through stargazing. This simple act became a large-scale screening across 140+ schools in 25 towns, reaching over 100,000 children. Through India’s leading children’s publication, Tinkle, the Ek Tara Test also reached 1.2M+ children and was made available to order online.
