Description
Everest Base Camp, Mussoorie, a glamping resort, is located at the foothills of Sir George Everest’s peak, not at the foothills of Mount Everest. But the clever brand name led the guests to assume adventure. How to solve this with design? We asked ourselves: are we the mountain or the story behind it? We are the story of the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India - mapping a nation with numerous triangles, with Sir George Everest leading the mission. Inspired by Sir George Everest’s expedition, The Man, The Maps & The Minds of the Survey created a graphic design language, portraying these stories with vintage cartography, survey instruments, coordinates & archival typography. The integration of design and story allowed the brand to engage at a sensory level. The spatial graphics, naming, artwork, surfaces & unexpectedly, even crockery, embedded the narrative into functional design, creating the experience of EBC Mussoorie - a brand experience that spoke of the real story behind Everest.
